Capote Version History — All Patch Notes

This page is the canonical record of every Capote patch note published through official channels. Each entry lists the version number, the release date, and the verified changes. Older entries will be expanded as the wiki grows.

Version 1.0 (August 20, 2026)

Capote left Early Access. Headline 1.0 features:

  • Truco live in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 with emote signals and regional rule variants. Walkthrough: How to play Truco.
  • Beach bar as a permanent venue, plus lobby pool / sinuca and an in-game YouTube player. Venue guide: The Bar.
  • Community review challenge for a free beach skin pack if Steam hits 1,000 user reviews by September 3, 2026. Not a promo code — see Codes.
  • Early Access content kept: Classic Capote, Betejack, custom rules, voice lip sync, Dona Lourdes and other EA characters.

Patch Notes v0.9.1-21 (January 24, 2026)

Late Early Access performance pass:

  • Character and environment optimization
  • VSync option
  • FPS limit option

Luski hoped the lighter load would also reduce warped faces, characters leaving the table, and flying cards. Details belong on System Requirements.

King of the Bar (December 2025)

The first major post-launch update. Headline changes:

  • Custom rules in Classic Capote. Match settings now expose hand size, shot penalty, capotado threshold, special card pool, and bot difficulty.
  • Voice chat fixes. Voice chat volume mixer now works; voice HUD icon shows who is speaking.
  • Lip sync first pass. Mouth movement tracks voice chat for every character.
  • Final-round warning. UI now flashes a warning when the table is one round from ending.
  • Last bet readability. Larger bet display and color-coded under/over status.

This update is what makes the Betting Strategy guide reliable. Before the King of the Bar patch, betting UI was inconsistent.

Early Access launch (October 23, 2025)

  • Capote ships on Steam Early Access. Windows and Linux, $5.99, English + Brazilian Portuguese + Spanish + Russian + Simplified Chinese.
  • Three modes at launch. Classic Capote, Betejack single-player, and the upcoming Truco mode placeholder.
  • Six playable characters. The host, the trash-talker, the observer, the wildcard, the newcomer, and the regular.
  • Eleven special cards. Force High, Reverse Order, Shuffle the Deck, Steal a Trick, Pass the Buck, Mirror Match, Show Your Hand, Double or Nothing, Reveal and Steal, Skip Turn, and Final Trick Swap.
  • 51 Steam achievements. Including Hot Streak, Perfect Match, Old Guard, You bet I’m Bete, and Full Bar.

Version 1.0 shipped (August 20, 2026)

The full launch is live. It included:

  • Truco mode in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 with regional variants (complete public toggle list still lives in the client)
  • Beach bar, lobby pool, YouTube music player
  • Characters added during Early Access, including Dona Lourdes

Price at launch remained $5.99. Wishlisting still surfaces discounts first.

How this page is maintained

Every entry on this page is sourced from:

  • Official Steam Community Hub announcements
  • The Luski Game Studio Discord patch notes channel
  • The developer YouTube community posts
  • GamesPress press notes

If a patch is missing, the Updates Hub announcement post usually points to it within 24 hours.

What is not in this history

  • Hotfixes to the Steam backend that did not affect gameplay are not listed.
  • Steam Cloud save bugs that did not change core mechanics are not listed.
  • Cosmetic-only Steam inventory updates are listed only if they shipped a new character.

Where to go next

  • Early Access Roadmap — confirmed plans for the rest of Early Access and the 1.0 launch.
  • Modes Hub — every mode including live Truco.
  • Guides Hub — the strategies the patches are balanced around.

Patch sensitivity

Special card text, item balance, and rule wording have shifted across multiple Early Access patches. The Special Cards Catalog, Betejack Mode guide, and Betting Strategy page are updated after every patch. Always check the patch date on a guide before trusting older tips.

Where patch notes appear

Official patch notes appear in the Steam Community Hub first, then the developer Discord, then the developer Instagram. The wiki aggregates every official source within 24 hours.

Reporting a missing patch

If a patch appears in Steam but is missing here, open a thread in the Updates Hub and the wiki team will add it after verification.
